1.1.1 Seroquel (Quetiapine) Medication

  • Available as an oral solution.

1.2. Seroquel (Quetiapine) Generics

  • Generic versions of Seroquel (quetiapine) are approved by the FDA for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (see section 4.4).

1.7. Seroquel (Quetiapine) Oral Solution

  • The oral suspension formulation of Seroquel (quetiapine) is designed to be absorbed at a dose of Seroquel 100mg (equivalent to Quetiapine 300mg) twice daily (see section 4.3).
  • Patients are advised to use Seroquel 100mg (equivalent to Quetiapine 300mg) twice daily for maintenance therapy (6–12 weeks) and then use Seroquel 300mg twice daily for maintenance therapy for up to 12 weeks.

Seroquel XR Dosage

The Seroquel XR (quetiapine fumarate) tablet has a recommended starting dose of 25 milligrams (mg). Your doctor will decide if you should take the XR or not. If the starting dose is 25 mg, the recommended starting dose is 50 mg.

Take the tablet with water and within one hour of taking a dose of 25 mg. Swallow the tablet with a glass of water. Do not take a higher dose of this medicine than 50 mg to give complete body protection.

The following symptoms of overdose may also occur: severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, trouble sleeping, or confusion. Seek emergency medical attention if any of these effects worsen or persist for more than a few days.

Do not take the XR tablet if you have:

  • a history of heart attack or stroke,
  • recent history of seizures or
  • a history of blood clots (see above).

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, you should not take Seroquel XR tablets
